The Name Game...

"A rose, by any other name, would smell as sweet." Yet would people know what you were referring to if you said "Take time to stop and smell the flernogs"? No. While names may not be as important as our society thinks them, they are important when used to identify something or someone. Take my name, for example. Morpheen Heels. Yeah, it's a weird name in general... sounds like my parents were drug addict hippies, right? Well, that's where the crazy part comes in... the part that sounds more like a fantasy than real life. I have superpowers. And you, oh doubtful reader, are thinking, "Yeah right! How old do you think I am? Five? You really expect me to believe that?" Nope. When the truth gets a little too absurd, traditional human minds shut it out and call it fiction. So I don't expect you to believe it... I'm just telling it like it is. Here's where the "importance of being Morpheen" comes in. My name is my power. Try spelling it a little differently. Morphine heals. Everyone knows that morphine is used as a sedative/painkiller by hospitals. Well, that's my supernatural ability. I can heal wounds by touching them, and I can also inflict drowsiness through phyical contact. I have a small, close-knit group of friends (more like family) who have similar name/ability powers. My best friend, Falcon Flyes, has... guess what ability? Yup, you got it. Flight. My BMF (best male friend) Skye Rayns can control the weather. The list goes on... I won't give you all the details right now. Let me guess what you're thinking... "Okay, so if you all have these 'supernatural powers', how did you get them? Why doesn't everyone have them? And why does no one know about you?" All these questions and more will be answered... in my next post. For now, the dishes call. Hey, even superhumans have chores, you know!
